“Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen” ― Leonardo da Vinci
I've seen Dylan in concert three times in the past five years, thank God! He's the great poet of our time.
Couldn't agree more. He's the main reason I started writing. I've never seen him live, though. I could never find anyone who wanted to go. Something tells me I'd better hurry up.
"Never could find anyone who wanted to go???"Go yourself, young man!!! The times I've ventured off to see Bruce by myself, I've had a GREAT time...have met some very interesting and memorable people, which if I had gone with someone I knew, it would have been a totally different social dynamic...Actually...I do hope you find your way to see Bruce's Seeger Sessions Band in a few days, with someone or not...you won't regret it...As for Bob...I dig his writing...I dig his approach to life and the world...and obviously, he's a unique gift...Having said that, I've seen him live several times...he's either ON...or OFF...depending on where his head is at the time...The first time I saw him, I was so disappointed in his unenthusiastic performance, I left early(to add to it, the venue's sound was subpar)...the last time I saw him, he was like watching a kid in a candy store...giddy, and having such a great time on stage...but in an introverted way...I don't think he ever looked out into the audience...he was just having fun in his own little world...And inbetween the two performances,I saw him several times with The Grateful Dead...and man, that was kick-ass...
I should go alone, shouldn't I? But Bob always plays a long way from here, so it'd be a big trek, with an overnight stay, and...but so what? Okay, next time I'll go!I'd heard he was unpredictable at best on stage. But doesn't the consensus seem to be that the average these days is better than it used to be, now that Bob has sung the Devil out of his throat (or whatever it was he said cured him in "Chronicles")? You know, I know a lot of guitar players and not one of them knows what he means in "Chronicles" when he talks about redefining his guitar style by playing in "thematic triplets"...the musicians I know all say that's another of Bob's coyote-ish jokes designed to amuse him and puzzle everybody else. I love that about our Bob.
That's funny...that is definitely Bob...cryptic...or um...not cryptic...depends on where you're standing in your own head at the moment...Definitely the next time Bob comes to your end of the world...go! You'll have no regrets and think of the possibilities that could come of it...meet new people, maybe meet that gal who understands Bob, like you undersyand Bob...and think of the writing that could come from your journey...lots of energy to be had...
